The UW Laramie Robotics Club was founded to impart to local children a love for programming and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Each week, students in the club get together and have fun playing with robots. They get to design their own challenges, such as having robots solve mazes or play robot tag. They discover how fun programming and robotics can be while learning the math that is required to accomplish their goals.

Computer programming and robotics represent a huge segment of the current and future economy. As the Seattle Times reported in 2013, "Nationwide there is a well-documented shortage of graduates in computer science. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that 70% of all newly created jobs across all STEM fields during this decade - across engineering, the physical sciences, the life sciences, and the social sciences - will be in computer science."

While the professors, graduate students, and parents who teach the kids volunteer their time and the room and computers are donated by the University of Wyoming, the robots themselves cost money. Students learn better when they have the hands-on experience and the chance to program their own robot, either individually or in small groups. However, we currently do not have enough robots for the size of our club, and because the skill set of some of our students is quickly outgrowing our introductory set of robots, the club would also like to purchase more sophisticated robots. Your support and generosity would make all the difference to these future scientists and engineers.

As part of sponsorship, we would mention your organization as a sponsor for one year in all of our messaging (e.g., websites, fliers, emails). We would also mention your generous support in any press articles about the club. The public is interested in these efforts. For example, an article about the UW Laramie Robotics Club was published in the Laramie Boomerang and republished in the Houston Chronicle and Miami Herald. Another article about the club was featured on the homepage of the University of Wyoming. We would keep you posted on updates from our club and any press coverage of it. You can support the UW Laramie Robotics Club at any level, but any size of donation is greatly appreciated and will make an impact.
